Newmont Jundee Underground Operations have been dedicated customers and users of MineARC Refuge Chambers for a number of years. MineARC are recognised in Australia as being industry leaders in the supply and maintenance of underground emergency chambers, leading to Newmont’s decision to deal with this manufacturer and phase out older style chambers.

MineARC Refuge Chambers have many technical and design advantages over other styles/brands of chambers. MineARC chambers are designed with the safety and comfort of underground workers being paramount. The scrubbing capability of the MineARC Systems is a great advantage as it does not allow for the build up of toxic gasses such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide exhaled in a persons breath. Air quality testing equipment provided in all refuge chambers also allows for the continuous monitoring of the environment, enabling occupants to change settings within the chambers to maximise both air quality and extend duration. The MineARC has also been designed to maximise space and include features such as air-conditioning to greatly improve occupant comfort. All equipment associated with the refuge chamber comes with easy to read operating procedures for use in case of emergency.

The MineARC chambers are constructed of high quality materials which, associated with good design, enable them to be tough and withstand harsh underground conditions. This heavy duty construction allows the chambers to be easily transported underground for maintaining close proximity to the areas where work is being undertaken.
